How to be Alone

Beautiful video, how to be alone. I love the little bits of animation, the voice over the top and the perfect music choice. A great video with a great message. Being alone isn’t always a bad thing. I’ve always quite enjoyed being alone.

Alphamosh

Owing to my Animated Alphabet being reblogged across the net recently as gifs, I decided to experiment with it a little. The Letter ‘A’ of my alphabet, datamoshed with new sound. Like a sort of digital vs. analogue experiment.

Enjoy! Feel free to gif.

Hellicar and Lewis Placement

I recently spent a week on a work placement with Hellicar and Lewis, an exciting interaction design duo based in East London who visited us earlier this year to give us a workshop in Interaction Design and inspire us with their amazing work! I was lucky enough be invited to complete a week long placement with them, I found the experience a warm and welcoming one, with Joel and Pete allowing me to get stuck in and get an insight into their work process. Whilst I was there, I edited together several videos for them which you can view below. (more…)

da3 Shop Video

A little video about the da3 shop I was a part of in Nottingham, at 2.38 it pans across my prints (: Great work by everyone involved and a great scheme for artists, and designers alike! Thanks to Lesley Elliott for the heads up.

Datamosh

This is possibly one of the coolest things I have ever seen, song and video about mashing together data and digital culture as the whole video looks distorted and pixelated as an effect to aid the story throughout the video. Amazing!

Digital Arts Video

Quick video documentation of the prototype of our interactive stained glass window idea to be projected over the top of a covered ‘Bishops Eye’ in Lincoln Cathedral as an interactive celebration of the window and it’s history.

Testing for Digital Arts

Massive digital arts update again! We managed to fix our problem by painting a piece of glass in a stained glass pattern that then sets infront of our kaleidoscope, something like so:

The user then interacts by being in front of the stained glass, and moving.

Which creates an effect like this:

Which is projected onto a wall like so: (hopefully in better light conditions and with a brighter projector or screen)

So now we’ve just got to make a wooden box to house everything in and do our drawings for how it would sit in the cathedral. It’s all coming together, slowly but surely!

David O’ Reilley

I just found the wonderful animations of David O’ Reiley, particularly love this one, the story is touching and the animation style is fabulous, called Please Say Something:

You can also check out his brand new animation, which is very odd and amusing called The External World.

Smile for London on the Tube

I went to see my animation today in action on the tube, along with animations by Aardman and Airside that I had yet to see. If you are in London and can get on the tube between 7-10am or 4-7pm it is definitely worth a looksee, finishes this friday so make sure you hurry! If not you can view the films at smileforlondon.com. Was a great day and took lots of photo’s and video footage to document it.

You can watch a short video of it below.

Google Docs Animation

Made by 3 animators in 3 days with 450 frames, amazing piece of animation. Love that it’s using different tools to create animation, reminds me of my excel animation (:
